As part of the celebrations for the 1400th anniversary of the transit of St. Antonino Abate, patron saint of Sorrento, Sorrento Foundation is pleased to host, “St. Antonino of the Gardeners – Citrus Exhibition between History and Traditions,” organized by Garden Club Peninsula Sorrentina and the patronage of the City of Sorrento.
A market exhibition will be set up inside Villa Fiorentino that will tell the story of the skilled art of citrus cultivation.
And not only that: it will become an opportunity to learn about the history of the ancient local funds-at one time cared for by the Jesuits-such as that of “Jesus” in Massa Lubrense and “Il Pizzo” in Sant’Agnello.
A plunge into the past, then, through the tools and images that tell of an ancient Sorrento, made up of agriculture and authentic simplicity.
The cultivation of citrus fruits, which has made the coast so famous in the world, must be told and above all preserved.
An exaltation, therefore, of these exclusive products of the earth, such as the lemon “Ovale IGP di Sorrento,” or the “Femmeniello Massese” together with the “Arancio Biondo Sorrentino.”
An exhibition, therefore, aimed especially at the new generations, who should be confidently entrusted with the task of embracing this cultural heritage.
