“Portraits of Made in Italy: Art and Culture for Export”
During 2024, Sorrento represents the Capital of Made in Italy.
Fondazione Sorrento, in partnership with the Municipality, has organized a series of events and exhibitions dedicated to the famous Italian brand.
The event entitled “Portraits of Made in Italy: Art and Culture for Export” will take place from next Saturday, April 13, 2024 – with the opening exhibition dedicated to the goldsmith art of Gerardo Sacco – until 2025, with the aim of promoting Italian excellences.
At the heart of this initiative will be four exhibitions focused on four equally world-famous Italian artistic fields: Sacco Jewels, E. Marinella, Ascione Corals, and the masters of Sorrento Inlaid Wood.
The exhibitions will be curated by Filomena Maria “Mimma” Sardella, an expert art historian with extensive international experience.
The event therefore inaugurates with the exhibition of the creations of Gerardo Sacco, considered one of the masters of Italian goldsmith art.
His inspiration comes from the traditions and history of his homeland, Crotone.
Collaborations with prominent figures such as Franco Zeffirelli and Liz Taylor have helped make his works famous globally.
“Among the Italian tourism capitals, thanks to a rich landscape heritage, a variety of art treasures, and a dense cultural program, Sorrento is a brand known worldwide, capable of attracting millions of visitors every year” – reveals Mayor Massimo Coppola.
“Portraits of Made in Italy” then, aims to promote the territory as an ambassador of the Italian lifestyle.
The Sacco Jewels exhibition, to be held at Villa Fiorentino, represents only the beginning of this cultural journey that will accompany Sorrento until 2025.
Through these initiatives, the Fondazione Sorrento aims to spread the prestige and Italian style worldwide, with the goal of attracting tourists and international investors.
The exhibition “In the Sign of Tradition: The Goldsmith Art of Gerardo Sacco” will be open to the public from Saturday, April 13 to Sunday, May 26 at Villa Fiorentino.
