Exhibition of paintings and sculptures curated by Marzio Dall’Acqua
Promoted by Cittร di Sorrento – Fondazione Sorrento
in collaboration with Ligabue Art Projects
Villa Fiorentino proudly hosts the exhbition dedicated to one of the most influent italian artist of the 20th century.
From next August 5 to November 16, 2024, the exhibiting spaces of the villa will hold over sixty works – among paintings and sculptures – of Antonio Ligabue, major exponent of the Expressionist movement on a par with Van Gogh and Munch.
A magnificent digression that describes the artist’s tormented soul clearly recognizable in his aesthetic: the depicted animals are fierce and ferocious, symbolizing an instinctive survival struggle.
The self-portraits with a melancholic expression, on the other hand, are a symbol of an inner wish for love and need for human contact.
