SUMMARY:Turning to the Light: the international exhibition at Villa Fiorentino in Sorrento
DESCRIPTION:From 15 May to 14 June 2026\, the spaces of Villa Fiorentino will host Turning to the Light\, an international collective exhibition included in the Sorrento Contemporary Art format. \nThe exhibition brings together artists from different cultural contexts\, giving life to an artistic journey focused on the theme of light as an expressive\, symbolic and narrative element\, capable of guiding the viewer in an immersive experience between works\, installations and performative moments. \nAn international exhibition of contemporary art and experimentation\n“Turning to the Light” was born from a shared research between international artists\, united by the use of light as a founding element of their artistic language. \nThe title itself recalls a dynamic gesture: turning towards the light\, an action that implies movement\, research and transformation. In this context\, light becomes not only a visual element\, but also a symbol of orientation\, identity and connection. \nThe project develops within a global dimension\, in which art responds to a contemporary condition often characterized by uncertainty and change\, proposing new possible directions. \nThe dialogue with Paul Klee \nAn important reference of the exhibition is the work of Paul Klee\, in particular the work Hauptweg und Nebenwege. \nThe artists involved are inspired by the visual and conceptual rhythm of the work\, suggesting an idea of a path made up of main and secondary roads\, a metaphor for the choices and possibilities that art is able to indicate. \nThis dialogue with the history of art enriches the project\, creating a bridge between the past and the contemporary \nThe light as an artistic language\nThe central element of the exhibition is light\, understood as a truly autonomous artistic medium. \nDuring the twentieth century\, light took on an increasingly important role in contemporary art\, becoming a tool for experimentation and research. In “Turning to the Light”\, it takes on multiple forms: \n\nlight installations\nsite-specific works\nperformative interventions\ndirect interactions with the public\n\nEach artist interprets light in a personal way\, helping to create a dynamic and continually transforming exhibition itinerary. \nAn immersive experience at Villa Fiorentino\nThe exhibition takes place in the rooms of Villa Fiorentino\, one of the most important cultural locations in Sorrento. \nLocated in the heart of the historic center\, a few steps from Piazza Tasso\, the villa becomes an integral part of the exhibition project. \nThe works are designed to dialogue with the environments of the structure\, transforming the spaces through site-specific interventions and creating a direct relationship between art\, architecture and visitor. \nInformation about the exhibition\n\nTitle: Turning to the Light\nDate: 15 maggio – 14 giugno 2026\nLocation: Villa Fiorentino in Sorrento\n\nFAQ: Turning to the Light Sorrento 2026\n  \nWhen does the Turning to the Light exhibition take place in Sorrento?\nFrom May 15th to June 14th 2026. \nWhere is the exhibition held?\nThe exhibition takes place at Villa Fiorentino\, in the center of Sorrento. \nWhat kind of exhibition is Turning to the Light?\nIt is an international collective exhibition of contemporary art focused on the theme of light. \nWhat is the main theme of the exhibition?\nLight as an artistic\, symbolic and narrative element\, interpreted by various contemporary artists. \nIs the exhibition suitable for tourists?\nYes\, it is a cultural event open to all\, ideal for those visiting Sorrento in the spring.
