SUMMARY:Goya in Sorrento: White\, Black\, Dream - Exhibition at Villa Fiorentino
DESCRIPTION:> BUY TICKETS <\nFrom July 9 to October 11\, 2026\, Villa Fiorentino in Sorrento will host one of the year’s most anticipated exhibitions: “Goya. White\, Black\, Dream\,” a major exhibition project dedicated to the graphic work of Francisco José de Goya y Lucientes\, one of the most influential artists in the history of European art. \nPromoted by Fondazione Sorrento. \nCurated by art historian Luca Baroni\, the exhibition offers visitors the chance to admire the Spanish master’s most celebrated print series\, presented in Italy through an exceptionally comprehensive display. It is a journey through engravings that revolutionized the language of modern art and continue to astonish today with their expressive power and enduring relevance. \nThe exhibition stands as one of the most significant cultural events of the summer and autumn of 2026 in Sorrento\, reaffirming the city’s status as a key destination for major international art exhibitions. \nThe Goya Exhibition: White\, Black\, Dream\nHoused within the spaces of Villa Fiorentino\, the exhibition invites the public to discover Goya’s creative universe through his most celebrated graphic series. \nThe exhibition route includes\, in fact: \n\nD’Après Velázquez\, A tribute to the great master of Spanish painting;\nLos Caprichos\, fierce criticism of the vices of society and the superstitions of the time;\nLos Desastres de la Guerra\, considered one of the most powerful artistic testimonies against the horrors of war;\nLa Tauromaquia\, dedicated to the world of bullfighting and Spanish tradition;\nLos Disparates\, an enigmatic and visionary collection that explores the inquietudes of the human soul.\n\nGoya’s graphic work chronicles one of the most complex periods in European history\, marked by the transition from the Ancien Régime to the French Revolution and the social transformations that would alter the face of the continent. \nA court artist and keen observer of reality\, Goya used printmaking as a vehicle for social critique and reflection. In *The Disasters of War*\, he documents the brutality of conflict\, while in *Los Caprichos*\, he portrays the weaknesses\, superstitions\, and contradictions of the society of his time. \nHis ability to combine technique\, imagination\, and social commentary makes his work strikingly relevant even today. \nAn exhibition spanning Villa Fiorentino and the Museo Correale\nFor the first time\, a major exhibition project by the Fondazione Sorrento also involves the Museo Correale\, which is participating in the initiative by extending the exhibition dedicated to the Spanish artist. \nThe collaboration between the two cultural institutions further enhances the event’s significance\, offering visitors an even richer and more comprehensive experience. \nThe exhibition is curated by Luca Baroni\, an art historian and scholar of historical and contemporary graphic art who serves as director of the Rete Museale Marche Nord. \nThanks to the curator’s approach\, combining scholarly rigor with accessible presentation\, the exhibition allows visitors to understand not only the meaning of the artworks but also the innovative techniques employed by Goya\, such as etching and aquatint\, which helped revolutionize the history of printmaking. \nUseful information\nEvent: Goya: Black\, White\, and Dream \nArtist: Francisco José de Goya y Lucientes \nMain Venue: Villa Fiorentino\, Sorrento \nPartner Venue: Museo Correale \nDates: July 9 – October 11\, 2026 \nCurator: Luca Baroni \nOpening Hours: Daily from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM \nFull-price ticket: €10 \nSorrento Peninsula residents: Free admission
